DEPARTMENT OF BIOLOGICAL SCIENCE

TENURE-TRACK FACULTY POSITION

IN CRYOELECTRON MICROSCOPY

The Department of Biological Science, https://www.bio.fsu.edu/, (www.bio.fsu.edu/) invites applications for a tenure-track position in Cryoelectron Microscopy at the assistant professor level.  We seek candidates with notable research achievements.  Each must have the ability to develop a well-funded independent research program and show a commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate education.  Every candidate should have a Ph.D. and postdoctoral experience.

The applicant’s research program should involve the application of cryoelectron microscopy or cryoelectron tomography to address novel structural questions relating to cell biology, neurobiology, virology, or microbiology.  The successful candidate’s research is expected to complement the department’s existing strengths in Virology, Genetics, and Molecular, Cell, Structural, Developmental and Neuro Biology.  The department is housed in-part in a new Life Science Research and Teaching Building and has a variety of well-equipped and fully staffed core facilities.  Included among the core facilities is the Biological Science Imaging Resource, http://bsir.bio.fsu.edu/, which will soon be augmented by the acquisition of an FEI Titan-Krios electron microscope. Opportunities for collaboration and access to additional instrumentation are available through the Structural Biology, Neuroscience, Nanobiotechnology, and Computational Science programs, the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, the FAMU/FSU College of Engineering, and the FSU College of Medicine. For detailed information please visit https://www.bio.fsu.edu/current_faculty_positions.php
