Mathematics is integral to all science-related fields and student participants are required to take a course in mathematical analysis. For the pure-mathematics and computer-oriented students, one section, entitled Mathematical Analysis, emphasizes the mathematical theories and constructs often described as discrete mathematics. For the more science- or engineering-oriented students, the other section, entitled Applied Mathematical Analysis, places more emphasis on the application of mathematics to questions arising from scientific research. Similar material is presented in the two courses; the approach is different.
