Black Swallowtail caterpillar on the dill plant |
Sealey Elementary School has maintained a butterfly garden for educational uses for the past several. This garden was originally developed with help from the Sealey Sodbusters, a volunteer group of students and their parents. The goals of the garden are to provide examples of plants and flowers for classes, as well as serving as a resource for students to understand the relationship between plants, which serve as food for both caterpillars and adult butterflies, and the insects themselves, which pollinate the flowers of the plants. Work in the garden is now organized by Carolyn Teregawa and Alice Winn. |
