1972 in the FSU Biological Science History project

1972 In the Department of Biological Science at Florida State University (updated 4 May 2009)

In 1972, Dr. Robert L. Shipp, who completed his FSU Ph.D. under the direction of Dr. Ralph W. Yerger, named a species of fish, Sphoeroides yergeri (the speckled puffer), in Dr. Yerger's honor.

On 10 July 1972, the first issue of BioNotes appeared. This weekly listing of announcements has become a tradition of the department.
