International Symposia in Fisheries Ecology

The Mote International Symposia are held biennially, and the proceedings are published as a special issue of the peer-reviewed journal Bulletin of Marine Science.  Each year since 2000, two Young Investigator Awards have been given at the end of the symposium, one for best oral presentation and one for best poster.  Eligible presentations are designated "(YI)" in the program. The results are announced during the symposium's closing ceremonies. Young investigators are graduate students or individuals who received the Ph.D. degree no more than five years before the meeting.

Proceedings of the Sixth Mote International Symposium, entitled "Life History in Fisheries Ecology and Management" (which took place 14-16 November 2006) will appear as a special issue of Bulletin of Marine Science.

Proceedings of the Fifth Mote International Symposium, entitled "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: Integrating Marine and Human Ecology into Fisheries Management," appeared as Bulletin of Marine Science, vol. 78, no. 3, pp. 407-721 (2006).

Proceedings of the Fourth Mote International Symposium, entitled "Confronting Trade-offs in the Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management," appeared as Bulletin of Marine Science, vol. 74, no. 3, pp. 489-760 (2004).

Proceedings of the Third Mote International Symposium, entitled "Targets, Thresholds, and the Burden of Proof," appeared as Bulletin of Marine Science, vol. 70, no. 2, pp. 397-790 (2002).

Proceedings of the Second Mote International Symposium, entitled "Essential Fish Habitat and Marine Reserves," appeared as Bulletin of Marine Science, vol. 63, no. 3, pp. 525-1010 (2000).

Proceedings of the First Mote International Symposium, entitled "Marine Stock Enchancement:  A New Perspective," appeared as Bulletin of Marine Science, vol. 62, no. 2, pp. 303-714 (1998).
