KATHLEEN ALLISON CRADDOCK BURKS, 1947-2006

Kathleen Allison Burks Kathleen Allison Craddock Burks, 59, a botanist and project coordinator for Florida Natural Areas Inventory, died Thursday, June 8, 2006, at her home. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. EDT Wednesday at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, Riggins Road Chapel (850-893-4177). Family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Robert K. Godfrey Endowment Fund, Fund No. 0303, FSU Foundation, PO Box 3062739, Tallahassee, FL 32306. Kathy had worked for many years as a botanist in the care and preservation of our Florida environment. She was an inspiration to the young and a leader amongst the most experienced of her peers. Kathy also left a valuable mark in her earlier work as a journalist, writer and editor. Survivors include her husband of 30 years, Joe; her mother, Lucille Craddock of Brandon; three sisters, Karen Gilliard (and husband Michael) of Tallahassee, Karyl Liles (and husband Bill) of Brandon and Kaye Craddock of Lumberton, N.J.; a brother, Dr. J.E. Craddock of Tampa; six nieces and nephews, Erin, Michael, Allison, Cody, Alex and Lana; and many friends and colleagues. She was preceded in death by her father, Bert F. J. Craddock.
