• Professor Kurt G. Hofer received FSU's Ross Oglesby Award for Scholarship and Leadership and was named an FSU Distinguished Teaching Professor.

• Professor and Curator of Birds and Mammals Frances C. James received the Elliott Coues Award of the American Ornithologists' Union, for meritorious research contributions.

• Professor David M. Quadagno received Best Professor Award of the the Phi Eta Sigma National Freshman Honor Society.

• Professor Thomas M. Roberts received the department's Loretta C. Ellias Award for undergraduate teaching.

• Professor Robert B. Short was named a Distinguished Emeritus Member by the American Society of Parasitologists.

• Professor Joseph Travis received an FSU University Teaching Award and was elected vice-president of the American Society of Naturalists.

• Professor Theodore P. Williams received an Alexander von Humboldt Senior Scientist Fellowship for study in Germany.
