- Professor Pasquale P. C. Graziadei received the Alessandro Volta Award from his medical school alma mater, the University of Pavia, Italy, and the Stanley K. Freeman Award, sponsored by International Flavors & Fragrances, for innovative research in the chemoreception sciences.
- Professor Robert J. Livingston was named Florida Scientist of the Year by the Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Society.
