The Leslie N. Wilson-Delores Auzenne Assistantship

The Leslie N. Wilson-Delores Auzenne Assistantship is available for minority students pursuing a graduate degree program full-time (enrolled for a minimum of nine hours/semester). The Award carries a $5,000 stipend for a quarter time assistantship plus tuition waivers. Awardees will be expected to participate in a professional development program organized by the Office of Graduate Studies. The goal is to facilitate networking and professional development for recipients of the Delores Auzenne Fellowship. Nomination is through the department but competition for these awards is on a university-wide basis. The deadline for receipt of completed applications to the student's major department is February 1, 2008.

Dissertation Research Grant

These grants are $750 awards to assist doctoral students with expenses associated with research necessary to prepare the dissertation. Dissertation Research Grants are awarded each fall and spring semester. For a description of the grant and application go to DRG description and Application Form. The deadline for receipt of completed applications to the student's major department is September 14, 2007.


University and Presidential Fellowship

The 2008-09 University Fellowship Competition:

The University Fellowship Program is administered by the Office of Graduate Studies. It is a University-wide competition, open to new and continuing graduate students. The University Fellowship provides a stipend of $18,000 each plus a tuition waiver of up to twelve hours for the Fall and Spring terms.

Some University Fellowships are designated Presidential University Fellowships and are awarded to newly enrolling (Fall 2008) graduate students at FSU who must be in a Ph.D. program or a Ph.D. track. These awards are multi-year and provide a stipend of $23,000 for the first and fourth years each, plus a tuition waiver of up to twelve hours for the Fall and Spring terms, funded by the Office of Graduate Studies. The second and third year stipends and tuition waivers are funded by the department at award levels determined by the sponsoring department.

Both the Presidential and University Fellowship carry a health insurance supplement (up to $1,500 per student per academic year) toward the purchase of the university-sponsored student health insurance plan. DEADLINE: Application and supporting documents must be submitted to the Biology Graduate Office by January 11, 2008.
