Shrub or tree with leaves alternate, twigs
and leaves beneath densely covered with
brown hairs, leaves lance-oblong to
lance-elliptic, 5-20 cm long, evergreen,
fragrant when crushed; flowers May, stalk
bearing inflorescence 5 cm; fruit (drupe)
fleshy with inner wall hardened into a pit.
Not distinguished here from P. borbonia
(Red Bay). |
